Hey folks. We just got back from our cruise. During one of the nights, in the main theater, there was a doo-wop kind of show with these 4 dancer/singers. (who put on a great show, BTW)
Anyway, they came down off the stage to select a female audience member to take up on stage and, out of over 1000 people in the theater, they picked my wife Jeannine, who is very shy and hides from attention of any kind. As they walked toward her, she kept looking down and away, mumbling “don’t make eye contact, don’t make eye contact”. It didn’t work.
So, they put her into their act. They were hugging her, holding her, fawning all over her, singing to her and having her dance with them. At first, she could have just died, but then finally caved in and accepted the fact that, whether she likes it or not, she is now part of the act. So she loosened up, played along and turned into a dancing machine with them.
She got a huge ovation as she took her bow and then had people coming up to her for the whole rest of the cruise. She was the celebrity for the rest of the cruise and I was basically some obscure guy tagging along behind her, occasionally being asked “hey, aren’t you Jeannine’s husband?” It was great.
Above is a picture of Jeannine and the group after the show.
